Matheson Family Reunion 2009

In July 2009 we went on a family vacation with McKay's immediate family. They whole gang was there together. The main highlights where Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone, Crazy Horse, driving all day to get over the boarder to North Dakota and sleeping 17 people in 2 trailers for a week.

We have a goal to make it to every state so since we figured we would never be closer to North Dakota so we spent about 6 hours in a 5 person car with Marty, Marjorie and Merrill just to cross the boarder. Here we are being welcomed to North Dakota.

The night time Light show at Mt. Rushmore

A great example of the tight sleeping arrangements. I wish we could of gotten a video of how this arrangement came to be.

Disneyland June 2009

In June we went to Disneyland with Cesar and Johanna for her birthday. Last year you got to get in for free if you went on the day of your birthday so we tagged along with them for the party.

Fort Lauderdale Florida May 2009

In May 2009 one of McKay's co-workers had some vouchers for 2 nights free in Fort Lauderdale. They were not able to use them before they expired and offered them to us. So we said "hey free flights, free hotel...okay." Since we fly standby our way of getting to a place can always be an adventure in it's self. We flew from Salt Lake to Long Beach to Fort Lauderdale on the way there and From Fort Lauderdale to New York and then to Salt Lake on the way back. In California we had about a 4ish hour layover (I think, it was long) in Cali on the way there. Also on the way back we had about a 5-6 hour layover in New York. Here are the pics.

Our layover in Cali gave us just enough time to hit up the local Tommy's burger with some work friends of McKay's that were also visiting California. This is us with Stephanie and Cyril.

This is us at Seal beach in California, also during our layover

This is McKay in the window of our hotel in Fort Lauderdale checking out the view.

This is a water taxi, one of the ways to get around down there. They post schedules at all the stops and you can either pay for 1 ride or for a day pass.

We also decided to hit up Miami and this is Danielle at Miami beach

This i the little latin band that was playing at the Bayside Market in Miami

This is Danielle on Miami Beach again

One of the coolest things we did was make the drive from the tip of the pan handle down to key west. this is a very cool drive because you are driving from key to key with just the bridge you drive on in between, so as you drive it's water all around you. this is a picture I toke out our front window as we drove.

This is the view out of the drivers side with McKay's head.

This is the view out the passenger side. This was probably the coolest drive I've ever taken. It's worth the drive down just for the drive it's self.

This is at a little eclectic restaurant in Key West called Blue Heaven. Because it's dark you might not be able to see my head poking up behind the sign that says showers $1.00 To Watch $2.00

This is McKay and his pice of Key lime pie at Blue Heaven. We had to get key lime pie in key west (even though it was $9 a slice!) It was the best I've ever had though.

This is just a funny sign we saw on an empty wall at Key West.

Us at the Southern most point of the U.S. (as you can see on the giant cement thing)

With our huge layover in New York we decided to hit up a few places since Danielle has never been. We couldn't do much and We'll have to go back obviously, but at least we got some sight seeing in. This is us at Time Square

Here we are at Central Park.
